    We are thrilled to invite you to a unique exhibition showcasing the 1568 first edition of the Bishops’ Bible, a cornerstone of the English Reformation and a masterpiece of 16th-century printing. For the first time, five precious leaves from this historic Bible will be on public display at St. Joseph’s Seminary Library in Macau, from March 12 to April 30, 2025.

    This exhibition celebrates the Bishops’ Bible not only as a religious text but also as an artistic and technological marvel of its time. Highlights include:
    Exquisite woodcut illustrations and the fascinating “Bishop’s Hand” symbol, a precursor to modern digital pointers.
    A comparative study of the Great Bible and the Geneva Bible, revealing its pivotal role in shaping English religious history.

    教育功能：

    工作坊傳授升級再造技能與環保知識，提升參與者的環境素養，符合目標4.7「確保所有人學習可持續發展與全球公民意識」。

    聖大圖書館作為教育機構，透過互動活動深化社區對SDGs的認知，與聖大課程中96%內容融入SDGs的方針一致。

    Educational Function:

    The workshops teach upcycling skills and environmental knowledge, enhancing participants’ environmental awareness, which aligns with Target 4.7, “ensuring all people acquire knowledge and skills for sustainable development and global citizenship.”

    As an educational institution, the University of St. Joseph library organizes interactive activities to deepen community understanding of the SDGs, consistent with the university’s curriculum, which integrates SDGs into 96% of its content.

    目標11：永續城市與社區（Sustainable Cities and Communities）

    綠色校園實踐：

    活動結合青洲校園的綠色政策（如節能系統、太陽能板），推動低碳生活空間，符合目標11.6「減少城市環境影響」。

    透過校內外參與者共同打造植物花盆，強化社區凝聚力，體現「以人為本」的永續城市願景。

    Green Campus Practices:

    The initiative aligns with the university’s green policies (e.g., energy-efficient systems and solar panels) by promoting low-carbon living spaces, in line with Target 11.6, “reducing the environmental impact of cities.”

    The initiative strengthens community bonds by engaging both on-campus and off-campus participants in creating planters, reflecting the vision of “People-oriented” sustainable cities.

    目標12：負責任的消費與生產（Responsible Consumption and Production）

    直接關聯：

    活動將廢棄玻璃樽與膠樽升級再造為花盆，實踐「資源再利用」（Reuse）與「循環經濟」理念，減少塑料廢棄物的產生，符合目標12.5「大幅減少廢棄物」的具體要求。

    透過工作坊教育參與者如何在日常生活中減少一次性塑料使用，提倡「源頭減量」（Reduce），強化可持續消費意識。

    Direct Connection:

    The initiative upcycles discarded glass and plastic bottles into planters, practicing the concept of “reuse” and promoting a “circular economy.” This reduces the production of plastic waste, aligning with Target 12.5, which aims to significantly reduce waste.

    Through workshops, participants are educated on reducing single-use plastics in daily life, promoting the principle of “reduce at the source” and strengthening sustainable consumption awareness.

    目標15：陸地生態（Life on Land）

    生態連結：

    透過種植植物與推廣綠化，活動促進生物多樣性保護，符合目標15.5「保護生態系統」。

    校園綠化行動可改善微氣候，例如雀巢推動可持續農業保護土壤健康的案例。

    Ecological Connection:

    By planting and promoting greening, the initiative protects biodiversity, aligning with Target 15.5, “protecting ecosystems.”

    The 1st Global Typhoon | Macau 1874: A Rediscovery

    甲 戌 風 災 1 5 0 週 年 特 展

    The Great Typhoon of 22-23 September 1874 was the worst natural disaster ever to hit Macau. Combining tempest, flood, and fire, it left the city devastated, with close to 5,000 people dead and around 1,200 junks and sampans destroyed. In the final days of September 1874, the Chinese photographer Lai Afong took a set of haunting photographs of the impact of the typhoon had wreaked upon familiar and previously picturesque views of the ravaged city. One hundred and fifty years later, their emotional impact is still intense.

    This exhibition, co-sponsored by the Library, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and the Portuguese Delegation of the University of St. Joseph, Macau, and the Centro Cientifico e Cultural de Macau (CCCM) in Lisbon, features twelve of these brutally realistic photographs, reproduced from the CCCM’s collections. It places them against the background of the beginning of a new era in the international reporting and depiction of natural disasters. The typhoon, the first for which relatively accurate data was recorded, coincided with and boosted efforts by meteorologists across Asia—Macau included—to understand, predict, and share information on typhoons and hazardous weather.

    在150年前，1874年9月發生了澳門歷史上最嚴重的自然災害——甲戌風災。

    這場結合了暴風、洪水和火災的災難，令整個澳門陷入毀滅，近五千人喪生，約有一千二百艘漁船和小艇被摧毀。風災發生後，中國攝影師賴阿芳拍攝了一組令人心碎的照片，展現了颱風對這座熟悉而美麗的城市造成的影響。

    本次展覽由澳門聖若瑟大學圖書館、人文藝術學院及葡萄牙代表辦事處共同主辦，並由位於里斯本的澳門科學文化中心（CCCM）協辦，展出了十二幅風災後最真實的照片，這些照片均來自CCCM的收藏。這場颱風是首次有相對準確數據記錄的颱風，並促進了澳門及亞洲各地氣象學家去理解、預測和分享有關颱風及危險天氣的信息。

    展覽將引領大家重新了解甲戌風災對世界的影響，同時設有沉浸式風暴體驗。歡迎大家𦲷臨觀賞。
